VHF-System
Probably the best known and most popular VHF system comes from the U.S. company LoJack. It is an electronic system for search and location of stolen vehicles. It was developed at MIT in the U.S. and was produced in the past by Continental. P>
LoJack locates stolen vehicles within two hours after the alarm call in average. LoJack operates worldwide in more than 25 countries. More than 4 million units were sold. Approx. 200,000 stolen vehicles were recovered.

How does it work?
After installation at a contractor or a car dealer, the system is basically in “standby” mode. This means that the electronic VHF transmitters permanently is ready for activation. In the case of unauthorized movement of the vehicle, the system is activated and begins with the sending of an alarm code to the Operational Center (OC). There, the vehicle data will be reviewed and the search begins. The searching vehicles and helicopters are equipped with special receivers for the search. If the vehicle is located, the police will be informed in order to ensure the vehicle and possibly arrest the thief. In the U.S., the LoJack system is in almost all states in use. The police is using the built in finding receiver in their vehicles to locate the stolen vehicles.
